CEEBS web series was selected as one of twelve projects Australia wide to participate in the Screen Australia/ SBS Digital Originals initiative 2021. Twelve teams took part in development workshops in early May and from this group up to four projects will be chosen for further development. CEEBS is created by writer/performers Betiel Beyin and Leigh Lule, and produced by Amie Batalibasi and Nikki Tran.

CEEBS follows two neurotic best friends, who are accused of cultural appropriation and thrown into an online controversy. The video at the heart of the scandal, was a promotional tool to showcase their community centre but instead it places the centre and their lifelong friendship in jeopardy.

CEEBS Team: Nikki Tran (producer), Betiel Beyin (creator), Leigh Lule (creator), Amie Batalibasi (producer).

The CEEBS team participated in three days of online workshops which included masterclasses with filmmakers such as Neesha Ganatra, Richie Mehta, Corrie Chen and a project feedback session with the creatives from Netflix’s series SPECIAL – Ryan O’Connell and Anna Dokoza. On the last day, all teams pitched their projects to Screen Australia, SBS and NITV with the hope of progressing to the development round.
